A Quiet God-Appointment at the Bakery
We met a treasure today – an elderly Filipina lady working at a bakery near our church. In a prayer vision earlier, I saw a woman dressed in red and white, and a picture of an owl carrying a piggy bank flashed through my mind. Something stirred in my heart, so we walked into the bakery – and there was our treasure, the aunty running the store, dressed in red and white. I felt led to share a word with her: that God is going to take care of her, her family, and her relatives, and that any problems between them will be resolved and lifted away. She was very grateful and kept thanking us, even gently nudging us for a review of her bakery products as we chatted. Despite a bit of a language barrier, we learned that she’s originally from the Philippines, has been in Singapore for some time, and is working hard. My partner, Abigail, spoke to her about God and asked a few questions about her family and finances (linking back to the owl with the piggy bank vision). We gave her our church service timing card and invited her to come; she said she would try, and might even bring a friend along soon. We gently asked if she had any financial needs, but she didn’t seem to understand or indicate anything urgent, so we left it at that. No pushing—just doing what we felt led to do, nothing more and nothing less. We bought our pies, ate there, said our goodbyes, and left feeling humbled. We’re continuing to pray for Anna, that the words spoken over her will take root and bear fruit in her life and family.
Prophesy in Parts
My partner, B, had an impression and drew a heart with a door or castle inside on a card. When we went to look for our treasure, B and I approached a gentleman sitting next to a balloon castle, since it seemed to match B’s impression. However, he said he did not want to speak with us. Later, I noticed another man sitting on a bench, watching over two boys playing near the beach. I approached him and started a conversation, telling him that it was encouraging to see him spending time with his boys. He was very open and spent quite a while chatting with me. I shared that we were spending time there talking with and blessing people who were open to conversation. I found out that he came from a Christian family but had chosen to be a free thinker, like one of his siblings. I shared with him that God is like a Father who looks after His children, just like he was watching over his sons as they enjoyed themselves in the sea. I asked if he would be open to a blessing prayer, and he agreed. I prayed that his heart would one day know the Father’s love. As I was making my way back to B, I felt prompted to pass him B’s drawing, since it showed a heart with a door. So I asked B to give it to him. Together, we walked back to him and told him that B had drawn a heart with a door earlier, and that we hoped he would one day open his heart to the Father’s love. God taught us that we prophesy in part, receiving glimpses of His love, and that each of us has a role to play. B provided the drawing, and I got to minister God’s love to His treasure.
Treasures at the Beach
Treasure 1 B and I went to the beach and found the breakwaters that look like what was drawn on the prophetic card. The verse on the card was “I will even make a road in the wilderness, And rivers in the desert…” Isaiah 43:19. After praying and discussing, we agreed on who the treasure was. Someone sitting near our treasure got up and walked away, confirming that she was the right person. We climbed up the breakwater and sat near her – a young lady sitting alone in the middle of it. I approached her and asked if she could help us take a photo. Since she had a bag of inline skates beside her, I started a conversation about inline skating, as I’m also a skate enthusiast. We gave her the prophetic card and asked whether the words meant anything to her. She shared that she was going through a season of dryness and self-doubt, and was trying to find meaning in a new job she had started a few months earlier. After understanding more about her work, we encouraged her with some words of hope. She said the card had made her day and shared that she was of another faith but had not attended church for some time. I then shared my testimony. I told her that I was born Catholic and baptised as a baby. And how Jesus spoke to me through the Bible, leading me to invite Him back into my life and later to be baptised again. We invited her to visit Cornerstone Church at Odeon Katong. We also asked if we could pray for her and felt led to bless her with a benediction before we left. Treasure 2 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 was the Bible verse on the second prophetic art card we had. The card had a yellow balloon with water underneath it. We felt that it was meant for a mother figure, so we continued walking along the beach and spotted an Indian lady sitting alone on a bench, wearing a yellow shirt. Her husband and daughter were playing in the sand nearby. We didn’t feel it was the right time to approach her while her husband was still close by, so we stayed nearby and waited patiently. Later, her husband and daughter came back to the bench and put on their shoes. We thought the father was bringing their daughter to the washroom to wash their feet, but they ended up heading in the wrong direction to a washroom farther away instead. We felt that this was God making a way for us to approach the mother. We shared the card with her and asked if she felt tired from work and caring for her family. She agreed and shared that they are not locals. She thanked us for the card and mentioned that they are of a different religion, not Christian, and that they had once visited a Bethesda church for a Christmas event. Since it was Mother’s Day weekend, we wished her a happy Mother’s Day and invited her to visit Cornerstone Community Church.
From Sketch to Gospel Chat
J drew a picture of a person sitting under a tree with a book. Later, J and I (B) were walking around the skatepark area at East Coast Park when we noticed a woman sitting alone under a tree, looking at her phone, similar to the drawing. We decided to approach her. J started the conversation by giving her the picture card. She seemed cautious at first, but after receiving it, she became more relaxed and open to talking with us. She shared that she is an atheist and did not feel the need for religion when she was younger. Recently, however, she has started to think more about it, partly influenced by her mother’s Buddhist beliefs. She said she is still exploring and not deeply involved. She also mentioned that she feels all religions are similar in that they encourage people to do good. We asked why she felt the need to explore religion now. She said that as she went through life, she began to reflect more on such questions. She also shared that her sister-in-law is a Christian and a virtuous person, which gave her a positive impression of Christianity. J and I shared about God’s unconditional love, referencing John 3:16, and we explained that while doing good is important, it is also important to consider what happens after death. J brought up Romans 6:23 and explained the concept of sin and its consequences. We asked if she knew where she would go after she passed on, and she said she did not know, even if she tried to do good. I asked whether she experienced peace when doing her chanting, and she replied that she felt some level of peace. J then shared that true peace comes from Jesus, referencing Isaiah 9:6, and explained that this peace brings assurance and security. She explained that salvation is not based on good works but on belief in Jesus, and that this gives assurance of being with Him after death. J also played an audio of Psalm 23 in Chinese for her. We prayed for her, and she was open to it. Before leaving, we encouraged her to visit a church near her home and gave her a Cornerstone Community Church service card.
From Courtroom Stories to the Good News
Before we went out to invite friends and family for the upcoming Easter production, I felt prompted in my heart to lay hands on production’s invitation cards. The production was titled “The Courtroom”. I asked J and S to join me in praying over the cards before we distributed them. A few days later, I was walking around a mall to visit JS at his shop. I greeted him and chatted for a while, and tried inviting him to the Easter production. He gently declined, saying he didn’t want to trouble others because of his mobility limitations, as he uses a PMD. But deep down, I felt that one day he will come. After leaving his shop, I continued walking towards another mall, where I met a lady, R, working at a café. She shared that she had started the café with her two sisters, with a heart to connect with people in the neighbourhood with the love of Jesus Christ. As we were talking, she mentioned that one of her sisters is at home recovering from breast cancer. In that moment, I felt a gentle prompting to ask about her breathing, and R shared that her sister is currently relying on a respiratory tube. I offered a prayer for her sister, asking that Jesus would bring healing to her lungs and restore her strength day by day. I also prayed that, in time, she would be able to come out and experience community again, even joining her church service when she is ready. R shared that the doctor had advised her sister to rest more for now, as she still needs the respiratory support. I acknowledged that, and gently encouraged her to hold on to hope and continue covering her sister in prayer, trusting that God is at work even in the midst of the recovery process. Next, I continued walking and came across an antique shop. I greeted the owner, and shared I was a friend of J and D, whom he had met a few weeks back. He warmly invited me in. I sat near the doorway, and we chatted for about 15 minutes. After that, I asked if he’d like to have coffee together, and he gladly agreed. We headed to a nearby food court, where I ordered a bowl of cheng tng for him and a glass of barley for myself. As we talked, we discovered we had quite a bit in common – from his past hobbies to his career. Through the conversation, I learned that he had worked in the Supreme Court for over 20 years. I shared that when I was a fresh graduate, I worked for a lawyer whose office was along Hill Street and who often went to court as well. As we exchanged stories about different cases, I felt a quiet excitement growing within me. It felt like a God-ordained moment, and I sensed that the Easter drama, The Courtroom, would really resonate with him. So I gently invited him again, for the second time, to come for the 5pm service. It was already around 4:40pm, but he agreed. Everything flowed smoothly, from making our way to church to being ushered to our seats. Although he didn’t respond to the altar call at the end, he heard the good news about Jesus. Afterwards, we continued our conversation, reflecting on the courtroom scenes. We even had a light-hearted discussion about the defence lawyer, represented by Jesus, which seemed to intrigue him and brought back memories from his time working in the court. He also noticed actress Li Na serving in the church and seemed pleasantly surprised that someone he recognised could be so simply involved, serving without any expectation of payment. I’m thankful to the Holy Spirit for guiding me to Katong that Easter weekend and leading me to share the Word of God with them. If I had not followed His prompting, I would have missed the opportunities He had prepared.
Prayer of blessings
Before we headed out to the beach, we prayed and asked God for a download. I saw a vision of a couple with a baby pram sitting under a brown rooftop shelter, so I drew it on a card. The man was wearing a light green top with blue shorts, and the woman had on a white or yellow top. I also sensed something about a leg issue and a work-related concern, and it felt like the woman was worried about something. Another person, D, saw a vision of a BBQ pit with the letter “A.” When we got there, we started looking for people who matched what we saw. The first person we approached was a man wearing a green top and blue pants, sitting next to a BBQ pit, though not under a brown rooftop shelter. I went up to him and asked in English if he had booked the BBQ pit. He replied in Mandarin, so I switched to Mandarin and asked where he was from. When he said Qingdao, China, I commented that Qingdao is beautiful, like Guilin. But he said Guilin has more scenic mountains and the sea. I then introduced myself and my friends, D and R, and shared that we’re Christians who wanted to tell him about Jesus. He quickly rejected us and said he doesn’t believe in any religion or in a real God. He added that if God were real, he would want to be able to see Him. D tried to share about how God healed his cancer, but the man said it was just luck. In the end, we simply blessed him with peace and happiness before we left. As we were walking along the pathway, we spotted a man sitting under a brown rooftop shelter with a baby pram beside him. This time, the colour of his T-shirt matched exactly what I had seen in my vision. To make sure I wasn’t jumping to conclusions again, we walked around the shelter twice while praying in tongues. As we came closer, I saw a woman walking towards him and sitting down. She was wearing a yellow, flowery dress. In that moment, I felt so exhilarated – what I had seen in the vision earlier was unfolding right in front of my eyes. Because of the earlier encounter, I decided to start a conversation with them in Mandarin, asking if they were a family. The woman replied that she couldn’t speak Mandarin as they are Myanmar nationals who have been living in Singapore for about 10 years. We continued chatting and found out that both them are working and that her husband travels around Southeast Asia. That’s also why they have a helper to take care of their toddler son. I asked if her husband had any leg issues, but he said he was fine. I then shared about Jesus with them, and D shared his testimony of how God healed a 5cm cancer tumor in his colon completely, without any operation. We told them that if they ever need help or face any challenges, they can call on the name of Jesus. Even though they are of another religion, the couple was open and agreed when we asked if we could pray for them. So we prayed for blessings over their work and finances, for their baby to grow strong in God’s grace, and for protection over their family both here and in Myanmar. Before we left, I showed them the drawing I had made on the card and shared that it wasn’t a coincidence, but a “God-incident.” I encouraged them to take a photo of the drawing, since it came from a vision God gave. We also took a photo together. I gave them our church service card and invited them to our Sunday service at Orchard, and mentioned that we have a children’s room for their baby as well. It was truly a divine appointment to meet the Myanmar family. Even though we made a mistake in our earlier search, we didn’t give up on sharing about Jesus.
A Loving Encounter
I was supposed to leave at 630am for a meeting. Got late and left at 7am. Walking to the bus stop I missed both my buses 🤦🏻♀️. I bumped into an incredibly fit senior citizen. Told her I missed both my buses adding it must not be God’s timing to catch those buses. We spoke and she shared pictures of double rainbows 🌈 over home in Hawaii. It was a perfect rainbow and literally covered her home. So told her His covering is over her home and family. I briefly mentioned how the rainbow came about. She was nodding her head. I continued to share that the earth won’t be destroyed with water but with fire and asked her ‘Where will you be? Up there or in the fire 🔥? She said ‘Of course up there la.’ I asked her what made her so sure? She said ‘What’s the point of all the good work I do here on earth then?’ I shared that her no amount of good work is gonna save us. We are all sinners. Even if we do good work, we are still sinners. Only Jesus can save. She was nodding her head. She asked which church I went to and I told her, and whipped out the service timing card to give to her and encouraged her to visit our website. At that moment, my bus came and that paused our conversation for the moment as we each went on with our day. A seed sown. Prayers for it to be watered before a soul is won for Jesus Christ.
Touched by the Love of God
Sharon and I prayed and received a vision of a café. Sharon sensed it could be located at a nearby mall. I sensed it could be at another place. We proceeded to another mall nearby and headed to Level 2. There were no cafes there but some tables and chairs were there. We decided to sit there for a while and asked the Holy Spirit to show us. Both of us did not sense any specific and we decided to move around in the shopping mall. Just as we were about to approach local eatery stall direction, I stopped at a small Nonya pop up stall selling Nonya kuehs at a corner. I was casually asking about the kuehs and the salesperson was very friendly and earnestly trying to sell the kuehs to me. After buying two items from her, I felt nudged inside my heart. I then conveyed that Jesus loves her and understands her hardship to come over to Singapore to work. The salesperson was from China. She was all alone and started out working less than two weeks ago. I was just saying how today is “dongzi” day, when families usually gather to eat dongzi, celebrate love and warmth during winter, and welcome blessings for the coming year – plus, it means we’ve all grown a year older. But here she is, alone in a foreign country, working. It was rough for her. I told her that Jesus knows her heart and just wants her to know that He loves her. I asked if she would like me to pray for her, she said ‘yes’ and held my hands. After praying, she felt touched and kept thanking me for being so warm to her. We are just glad that God uses us to understand people and warm their hearts.
Salvation
Our group of six went to PLQ to look for our “treasure.” We began with a short prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to lead us. Shortly after the prayer, I had the impression of “Wok Hey,” and Sharon had the initials “W.H.” So the two of us paired up and headed there. We waited there for some time but to no avail. Somehow, I felt prompted to approach a young lady who was sitting across from Wok Hey on her lunch break. She had been there the entire time we were waiting for our treasure. Sharon and I approached her and started a conversation. During our exchange, she shared that she is a Christian but was unsure of her salvation, as she could not remember ever saying the Sinner’s Prayer. We took the opportunity to share the Gospel with her and asked if she would like to invite Jesus into her life as her Lord and Saviour. Using the Four Spiritual Laws tract, we guided her through the Salvation Prayer. We then blessed her and prayed for her before parting. We also gave her a copy of the church’s service schedule. Shortly after we left, she sent a message to the church to thank us for praying for her. It was a simple act but precious reminder of how the Holy Spirit leads when we step out in faith.
Treasure Hunt at Paya Lebar Quarter
Our treasure hunt today took place at Paya Lebar Quarter. The words of knowledge and images we received were as follows: Set 1: Doughnut; a group of students Set 2: Red tunnel; red toy truck; SingPost atrium; praise Set 3: A lady with a darker skin tone, likely a foreigner (we sensed this image might not be for today’s harvest) Margaret identified a location where there was a doughnut store. When we arrived, we witnessed Sarah’s word of knowledge come alive right before our eyes—a group of three students standing outside a doughnut store, in fact sandwiched between two doughnut stores. Our group initiated a conversation with the girls, and they were very responsive. At the end of our chat, Sarah blessed them and introduced Jesus, whose name we used during the blessing. As we departed, we prayed for them—for their studies, for a healthy mindset, and for a growing curiosity about the name of Jesus. Next, we headed to SingPost. I was initially expecting to see a children’s playground, but instead, I noticed a book sale happening at the atrium. In front of a store with a flashing red line of light was the children’s book section. Although I had earlier noticed the word “Praise” on the back of a youth’s T-shirt from a missions school, Sarah helped me clearly identify him as the treasure. We started a conversation, with Sarah asking what the youth was good at in school. Without hesitation, he shared a sport he excelled in. I then asked what people often praised him for. He replied “leadership,” but added that he did not want to be a leader because he did not want to draw attention to himself. I shared with him about the concept of servant leadership. With his permission, Sarah prayed over him. We did not encounter our Set 3 treasure on that day.
