Prayer of blessings

Before we headed out to the beach, we prayed and asked God for a download. I saw a vision of a couple with a baby pram sitting under a brown rooftop shelter, so I drew it on a card. The man was wearing a light green top with blue shorts, and the woman had on a white or yellow top. I also sensed something about a leg issue and a work-related concern, and it felt like the woman was worried about something. Another person, D, saw a vision of a BBQ pit with the letter “A.” When we got there, we started looking for people who matched what we saw.

The first person we approached was a man wearing a green top and blue pants, sitting next to a BBQ pit, though not under a brown rooftop shelter. I went up to him and asked in English if he had booked the BBQ pit. He replied in Mandarin, so I switched to Mandarin and asked where he was from.

When he said Qingdao, China, I commented that Qingdao is beautiful, like Guilin. But he said Guilin has more scenic mountains and the sea. I then introduced myself and my friends, D and R, and shared that we’re Christians who wanted to tell him about Jesus.

He quickly rejected us and said he doesn’t believe in any religion or in a real God. He added that if God were real, he would want to be able to see Him. D tried to share about how God healed his cancer, but the man said it was just luck. In the end, we simply blessed him with peace and happiness before we left.

As we were walking along the pathway, we spotted a man sitting under a brown rooftop shelter with a baby pram beside him. This time, the colour of his T-shirt matched exactly what I had seen in my vision. To make sure I wasn’t jumping to conclusions again, we walked around the shelter twice while praying in tongues.

As we came closer, I saw a woman walking towards him and sitting down. She was wearing a yellow, flowery dress. In that moment, I felt so exhilarated – what I had seen in the vision earlier was unfolding right in front of my eyes.

Because of the earlier encounter, I decided to start a conversation with them in Mandarin, asking if they were a family. The woman replied that she couldn’t speak Mandarin as they are Myanmar nationals who have been living in Singapore for about 10 years.

We continued chatting and found out that both them are working and that her husband travels around Southeast Asia. That’s also why they have a helper to take care of their toddler son.

I asked if her husband had any leg issues, but he said he was fine. I then shared about Jesus with them, and D shared his testimony of how God healed a 5cm cancer tumor in his colon completely, without any operation.

We told them that if they ever need help or face any challenges, they can call on the name of Jesus. Even though they are of another religion, the couple was open and agreed when we asked if we could pray for them. So we prayed for blessings over their work and finances, for their baby to grow strong in God’s grace, and for protection over their family both here and in Myanmar.

Before we left, I showed them the drawing I had made on the card and shared that it wasn’t a coincidence, but a “God-incident.” I encouraged them to take a photo of the drawing, since it came from a vision God gave. We also took a photo together.

I gave them our church service card and invited them to our Sunday service at Orchard, and mentioned that we have a children’s room for their baby as well.

It was truly a divine appointment to meet the Myanmar family. Even though we made a mistake in our earlier search, we didn’t give up on sharing about Jesus.
