Agnes, Sharon and I prayed for God’s download before we started out our PEM on the street. Both Agnes and Sharon saw a picture of fountains, while I saw checked designs, not sure if they were on shirts or pants. So, we headed out to look for fountains and landed at i12 Katong. We went around the mall then Agnes suggested to go down to level 2 to target at domestic maids who were sitting outside the tuition centers waiting for the children to finish their tuition. There, Agnes and Sharon saw a young couple and approached them. I was sitting behind them, talking to a Vietnamese lady who was like listening to music on her mobile. I casually asked her if she was waiting for her children, thinking that she was a domestic maid. But she replied she was waiting for her son to finish a birthday celebration somewhere near i12 Katong. Initially, I thought I heard wrongly (as my mind was still thinking that she could be a domestic maid). When I found out she is from Hanoi, I began to strike up a common language with her, commenting how nice and beautiful SAPA is. That’s where she felt relaxed and began to share more, for instance we asked for her name (She’s Linda), whether if she converses Chinese more or English more to her children, and if she is working here, how old are her children, etc. She replied she is a childcare teacher at Chai Chee, and she converses English to her children while her husband speaks Chinese to them. Before we ended our conversation, we asked if we could pray for her, she said yes. That’s where she told us although her house is idol-worship god, she has heard about our God because her son is studying at St Steven’s primary school. So, while I was praying, I saw the word “blood level”. I prayed along the word that God has given me, prayed for Jesus to heal her family member if her mother has any blood issues, and pray for God’s blessing to bless her husband in finances and his work.
After praying, we saw tears welled up around her eyes. And when we asked her how she felt, she held back from sharing her feelings. We believe she is touched. Agnes told her that if she has any issues, she can call out Jesus’ name for help. As we depart from i12 Katong and walking back to Cornerstone church, Sharon suddenly shouted out that she noticed that the daughter of the Vietnamese Lady, Linda, was wearing a checked skirt. Praise the Lord!
