Connecting Relationally

About two and a half years ago, CL and GT met Mdm Lee, who was 80 year old at that time, on a train after a Sunday service. While standing nearby, CL initiated a conversation with her. During their interaction, GT received a word of knowledge about Mdm Lee’s husband having a heart condition and shared it with her. Mdm Lee was taken aback and repeatedly asking how GT knew such information. Her curiosity opened the door for GT to share the message of Jesus with her and prayed for her husband, and they exchanged contact information afterward.

Since then, CL and GT have been regularly following up with Mdm Lee, often inviting her out for breakfast and taking every opportunity to share the gospel and build a connection with her. Mdm Lee has a sister named Lydia, who is a Christian and often, both of them were met up with them for breakfast.

Mdm Lee once worked as a cleaner in a church, where both the pastor and some members of the congregation tried to reach out to her. However, she struggled with doubts about God and was reluctant to acknowledge her need for salvation. This made it challenging for CL and GT to share the gospel with her, so they chose instead to focus on building a genuine friendship with her rather than pushing the gospel message.

During their most recent meeting prior to Christmas, Mdm Lee shared that a friend had invited her to church. CL and GT encouraged her to attend the Christmas service with her friend. Subsequently, their busy work and ministry schedules prevented them from meeting her again until 12 May 2025.

Leading up to that day, GT felt led by the Holy Spirit to reconnect with Mdm Lee and her sister, Lydia, and coordinated with CL to arrange the meeting. Lydia later messaged GT, informing her that Mdm Lee had slipped and fallen at home, and could only meet them at West Mall, which was closer to her residence.

Concerned for Mdm Lee’s well-being and her salvation, GT spent the morning praying in the spirit and interceding on her behalf.

While waiting for Mdm Lee and Lydia to arrive at the designated location, GT told the Lord she didn’t know what to say or share during the breakfast. In that moment, the Holy Spirit gently impressed upon her heart with these words, “You prayed — I will do the work.” GT felt a deep sense of relief and peace.

While CL and Lydia went to buy breakfast, GT took the opportunity to ask Mdm Lee about her recent fall at home. Mdm Lee shared with tears in her eyes that, ten days ago; she had slipped on wet floor and, in that moment, called out to Jesus. Sensing that her heart was receptive to receive the salvation, GT asked if she was willing to invite Jesus into her life. She gladly agreed, stretched out both hands, and allowed GT to guide her in the Sinner’s Prayer.

It was a moment of joy—the three of them clapped and rejoiced over Mdm Lee’s salvation. What a privilege it is to partner with the Holy Spirit in reaching lost souls for salvation.

The word of knowledge given to Madam Lee connected her to God. She continued to hold onto that word, sharing it with her sister, friends, and family.  Even as she was leaving the food court, she still spoke about that significant word.
