Prayer Changes the Atmosphere

On 14 March, the four of us, David, Cindy, Christina and I, went to Paya Lebar for street evangelism. Before we went out, we spent some time praying together, and during that prayer, I received a vision of a man dressed in black.

At Paya Lebar, Cindy paired up with Christina, while I partnered with David. As we walked around, trusting God to lead us to our “treasure,” we eventually noticed a lady dressed in black and felt led to enter her shop. It turned out to be a jewellery shop.

We started chatting with her and asked how business had been. She shared honestly that it was very poor, with not many customers buying jewellery. As we continued talking and looking at the items in the shop, we noticed a yellow string tied around her wrist. When we asked about it, she told us she had gone to Thailand to pray and received it there, and she believed it had helped bring her some business.

During the conversation, she also mentioned that she is a Christian, though she does not attend church. We then asked if we could pray for her shop. She was a little hesitant at first and said she needed to check with her boss. When her boss came over, we introduced ourselves and asked for permission to pray. He commented that she is also a Christian and that all religions are the same, but eventually, they agreed, and David prayed for the shop.

As David was praying, something remarkable happened. I saw a man in an orange T-shirt walk into the shop. Shortly after, an Indian couple came in, followed by another Chinese couple with some friends. The shop, which had been quiet, suddenly had multiple customers. I even spoke briefly with the Indian lady, who shared that she was buying a ring for her husband.

You could see the change immediately – the lady and her boss were smiling as they attended to the customers. I gave them a thumbs up as encouragement. What really touched me was that the lady stepped out briefly, even while serving customers, just to thank us. I also said a short prayer for her.

Before we left, I gave a thumbs up to the boss as well. He was smiling and seemed genuinely happy that customers had come in.

This experience reminded me how powerful prayer is and how God moves in simple yet amazing ways. Within such a short time, we saw the atmosphere change and customers come into the shop. I truly believe God was showing His love and care for them.

I pray that this encounter will stay in their hearts, especially for the lady who already knows Christ, that she will be drawn closer to Him.
