We met a treasure today – an elderly Filipina lady working at a bakery near our church.
In a prayer vision earlier, I saw a woman dressed in red and white, and a picture of an owl carrying a piggy bank flashed through my mind. Something stirred in my heart, so we walked into the bakery – and there was our treasure, the aunty running the store, dressed in red and white.
I felt led to share a word with her: that God is going to take care of her, her family, and her relatives, and that any problems between them will be resolved and lifted away. She was very grateful and kept thanking us, even gently nudging us for a review of her bakery products as we chatted.
Despite a bit of a language barrier, we learned that she’s originally from the Philippines, has been in Singapore for some time, and is working hard. My partner, Abigail, spoke to her about God and asked a few questions about her family and finances (linking back to the owl with the piggy bank vision). We gave her our church service timing card and invited her to come; she said she would try, and might even bring a friend along soon.
We gently asked if she had any financial needs, but she didn’t seem to understand or indicate anything urgent, so we left it at that. No pushing—just doing what we felt led to do, nothing more and nothing less.
We bought our pies, ate there, said our goodbyes, and left feeling humbled. We’re continuing to pray for Anna, that the words spoken over her will take root and bear fruit in her life and family.
